NIHR’s role lauded

Shura Council Chairman, Ali Al Saleh, has asserted that the human rights institutions in the Kingdom reflect the advanced democratic approach adopted by Bahrain during the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.  He lauded the role played by human rights institutions to consolidate human rights principles, as stipulated in the Constitution, the National Action Charter, as well as legislation and laws that are compatible with the related international conventions and treaties.

This came as he received yesterday the Deputy Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Khaled Abdulaziz Al Shaer, and member of the Council of Commissioners, Deena Abdulrahman Alladhi. Mr Al Saleh highlighted the NIHR’s great role in promoting awareness on the basics of human rights, and creating a democratic society whose members are aware of their responsibilities and rights.

He also lauded the NIHR’s keenness to launch various programmes and plans aimed at promoting human rights, and motivating social segments to participate actively in them. The Shura Chairman stressed that the NIHR is an essential partner in achieving human rights successes and highlighting the advanced level reached by Bahrain in this field.

Mr Al Shaer expressed thanks and appreciation to the Shura Council chairman and members for their constant interest in human rights-related legislation and laws, as well as keenness to develop them, commensurate with the progress made by the Kingdom in this regard.
