Fleet of luxury buses ready to receive Hajj pilgrims
As part of the General Secretariat of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Guests Programme, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, has pressed into service a fleet of buses to receive Hajj pilgrims who are being hosted by King Salman, the Saudi Press Agency reported yesterday. These coaches are equipped with interactive screens in various languages to provide safe and easy transportation for pilgrims.
The ministry works to modernise the buses on a continuous basis, and to provide well-trained and well-qualified staff to provide comfort to the programme guests. The buses will be used to transport pilgrims during the Hajj days and will also take them to Makkah, Jeddah and Madinah. In the meanwhile, Makkah Municipality has recruited 23,100 workers to implement its Hajj programme, with Makkah Mayor, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Quwaim, stating that the authority had also procured temporary health monitors and a large fleet of equipment and machines for the holy period.
Makkah Municipality is also monitoring municipal facilities in and around the Holy City, such as roads, tunnels, lighting, and drainage networks, working with contractors to ensure high-quality service delivery. The plan covers 58 tunnels, 39 control stations, 66,935 lighting units, 599 ventilation fans, 42 electric generators, 40 water pumps, and a high-pressure fire-extinguishing system.
Additionally, 13,250 cleaners have been assigned to Makkah, with equipment such as compressors, dumps, Bobcat equipment, and vacuum cleaners assigned to the group. Cleaning teams will be present 24 hours a day in various shifts, with central teams also created to manage crowd control in cases of rain or fire.
