Traffic policewomen to handle accident cases
The first batch of Bahraini policewomen will start conducting traffic patrols across Bahrain after undergoing training from more than a year. The women-only patrols will deal with road accidents and organise the flow of traffic, said Traffic Director-General Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdelwahab Al Khalifa.
In a statement yesterday, he said that the initiative is part of steps being undertaken to bolster the role of women in traffic police department in particular.
“The first batch of policewomen passed an intensive course in dealing with road accidents and all procedures to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in co-operation with other relevant authorities,” said Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdelwaheb Al Khalifa. Traffic Operations and Monitoring director Lieutenant-Colonel Adel Al Dosari honoured the participants, stressing the importance of implementing the theoretical and practical knowledge on the ground.
