Youth empowerment stressed

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received, at Al Sakhir Palace yesterday, HM the King’s Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First SCYS Deputy Chairman and the Bahrain Olympic Committee President, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Youth and Sports Affairs Minister, Ayman Almoayyad, marking the restructuring of the SCYS as per a Royal Order.

HH Shaikh Nasser extended deepest thanks and appreciation to HM King Hamad on the precious royal trust bestowed upon him through appointing him as SCYS Chairman, pledging to do his utmost to support the youth and sports movement through implementing the royal directives so as to bring about more honourable achievements that would contribute to raising the national banners at various sports gatherings.

HM the King was briefed by HH Shaikh Nasser about the SCYS’ plans and strategy, praising distinguished initiatives aimed at enhancing the youth and sports sectors and achieving more accomplishments to maintain Bahrain’s leading status in the two sectors. HM King Hamad lauded the SCYS’ work plan for the coming period, and gave directives to the SCYS to convene under the leadership off HH Shaikh Nasser to discuss the plan and put forward the executive frameworks to begin implementing it so as to achieve the aspirations of athletes in the Kingdom, and make Bahrain the capital of youth and sports.

In a statement marking the occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser extended, on behalf of all SCYS’ members, heartfelt thanks and appreciation to HM the King for the precious trust conferred on them, vowing to spare no effort in order to bring about more landmark achievements during HM the King’s prosperous era. HH Shaikh Nasser indicated that HM King Hamad had given directives to the Youth and Sports Affairs Minister to resolve all pending financial issues and to pave the way for the national clubs to achieve more successes.

HH Shaikh Nasser went on to say that the youth and sports movement in the Kingdom has attained multiple landmark regional, continental and international achievements as a result of HM the King’s sound visions and directives. HH Shaikh Nasser added that the SCYS will augur a new phase in the history of the youth and sports movement through implementing the new strategy which has been approved by HM King Hamad, noting that the new strategy is a roadmap for uplifting the youth and sports sectors in Bahrain.

HH Shaikh Nasser pledged to continue developing the necessary plans and programmes in order to translate HM the King’s directives to develop the youth and sports sectors into the ground. This would enable Bahraini athletes to continue attaining honourable achievements, and enhance Bahrain’s ability to host major sports championships and events, HH Shaikh Nasser added.
