Bahraini boy, 5, falls to death in Malaysia
A five-year-old boy from the Kingdom died after falling from the ninth floor of a hotel here, New Straits Times reported yesterday. However, the identity of the boy was not revealed. “The body of the child was found lying face up near the swimming pool of the hotel,” the newspaper said.
Iskandar Puteri police chief Assistant Commissioner Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the police received information from the public on the incident at 6.05 pm yesterday. Initial investigation found that the boy had fallen from the living room window on the ninth floor. “The mother said that she was cooking in the kitchen while the victim was playing with his younger sibling, aged three, in the living room. The father was out to buy some things.
“After a few minutes, the mother could not hear her children anymore. She looked for them in the bedroom and in the toilet, but could only find her youngest child. “The mother then saw the living room window open. She looked outside and saw the boy had already fallen,” he said.
Dzulkhairi said the family had just arrived in Johor Baru yesterday for a holiday. “The victim’s father lodged a police complaint and the child’s body has been taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for a post-mortem. “There’s no CCTV at the scene. We are still investigating and the case has been classified as sudden death,” he concluded. No more details were available until the press time.
