Three terrorists jailed
The High Criminal Court has sentenced three defendants to seven years behind bars, while a fourth man received three years in prison for joining Al Mukhtar Brigades terrorist group in an effort to carry out terrorist activities after receiving militia training outside Bahrain. A fifth defendant was involved in the case, but he was cleared due to lack of evidence. Meanwhile, the third defendant was fined BD100,000 too.
According to court files, the first defendant was leading the terrorist group and he committed many terrorist crimes. The second defendant was in contact with many wanted men and he helped them travel to Iran to join military training sessions, the Public Prosecutors said.
It’s said that the second defendant recruited the third defendant for Al Mukhtar Brigades and helped him to travel to Iran, where he was trained in using explosives, weapons and make and detonate bombs during his stay in a camp owned by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in 2015. A year later, he was also sent to Iraq and received similar training, but this time at a camp owned by the Iraqi Hizbollah.
During questioning, he revealed that he was participating in riots from 2011 until 2014, the year in which he joined the terrorist group. He told prosecutors that he received some funds and he was assigned to hand over the money to terrorists. He admitted to travelling to Iran and Iraq to receive militia training.
