Recruitment of employees ‘confined to Bahrainis only’

The Ministry of Education yesterday refuted social media claims that it recruited foreign teachers ahead of the new academic year. This came after social media reports claimed that the ministry signed contracts with around 400 teachers from an Arab country to fill the gaps opened following the retirement of thousands of teachers who benefited from an early retirement scheme.

The ministry released a statement to deny such reports, confirming that those claims were false. It affirmed that the recruitment process is confined only to the Bahrainis and it didn’t advertise any openings in any foreign country, as claimed by the reports published online.

The statement added that the ministry is now in the final stages to complete the recruitment of Bahraini teachers who will occupy the vacated seats in the various specialities that were advertised as part of the ministry’s preparations for the new academic year.

“The ministry underscores that such constant reports circulating on unofficial social media accounts are completely baseless and untrue and are part of the rumours that arise annually in this period of the year which the ministry is now accustomed to,” the ministry added in its statement.
