Schoolgirl clicks ‘dream selfies’ with Indian Prime Minister Modi

Payal Saini, a Class 11 student at Bahrain Indian School, is on cloud nine after clicking a selfie with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Lakshmi, another Indian expatriate, could surprise Modi with the special sari she was wearing as it had prints of the Prime Minister’s pictures, Malayala Manorama reported.

The occasion was the function organised to launch the redevelopment project for the Shree Krishna Temple and Thattai Hindu Merchants Community (THMC) Complex in Manama. Modi launched the project and addressed the gathering. As the Prime Minister was walking to the stage, Lakshmi approached him wearing the ‘Modi sari’.

Payal too rushed to Modi and sought his permission to click a selfie, the newspaper reported. “I cannot describe my happiness. I did not sleep at all last night making preparations to meet the Prime Minister. But I never thought that I would be able to click the selfie,” said Payal. Daughter of Sisupal and Mangi Devi, Payal has now turned a celebrity within the community.

Incidentally, Payal is the granddaughter of Jagadish Sharma, the chief priest of Shree Krishna Temple, which is owned by the Thattai Hindu community, the newspaper said. Meanwhile, Lakshmi had waited with the Modi sari for a year to meet the Prime Minister. The sari is a limited edition product created last year, she said.
