Nine terror suspects jailed

The Fourth High Criminal Court yesterday handed down jail terms of up to 6 years and fines of up to BD 100,000 to nine people suspected of being involved in terrorism.  One of the suspects received a jail term of six years and a fine of BD100,00. Three others were sentenced to one year in prison and fined BD 2000 each.  

Four suspects received two-year jail terms and another three months. Chief of the Terror Crime Prosecution Advocate General Chancellor Dr Ahmed Al Hammadi said the suspects posted pictures of terrorist and subversive acts committed against the security forces in Bahrain on Instagram and Twitter accounts. The court also accused them of receiving, carrying and giving money to Al Wafa Islamic Stream of February 14 Organisation to fund the terrorist operations. 

They were also charged with harbouring suspects, running social media websites to incite acts of sabotage and communicating with the terrorist groups abroad to sow chaos in the Kingdom. The Public Prosecution produced verbal and technical evidence, including the witnesses’ testimonies, the suspects’ confession before the court.  The verdict can be challenged before the Court of Appeal and the Court of Cassation.
