His Majesty congratulated
Shura Council Chairman Ali Al Saleh extended heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Bahrain’s winning of the 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture for the Revitalisation of Muharraq project. He stressed the Kingdom’s ongoing achievements within its comprehensive development march since the launch of the royal reform project.
Mr Al Saleh said the award demonstrates the care given by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, to the cultural and national heritage sector.
He also praised the role of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) in preserving the Kingdom’s heritage. The Shura Council Chairman hailed the efforts made in protecting the national heritage, stressing Bahrain’s rich civilisation. Separately, His Majesty King Hamad received a cable of congratulations from former French Minister of Culture and President of Paris-based Arab World Institute Jack Lang on the registration of Dilmun Mounds on UNESCO’s World Human Heritage List.
Lang said the unique archaeological site asserts Bahrain’s glorious and rich history which deserves to be promoted by providing support to Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA). He added Bahrain’s rich civilisation was showcased in a wonderful exhibition held recently at the institute for the “Millennium Cities”.
