Asian accused of attempting to smuggle drugs into Kingdom
An Asian man attempted to smuggle almost 3,000 narcotic pills into the Kingdom, the High Criminal Court heard. The 29-year-old man was caught at the Bahrain International Airport carrying 2,870 pills that he hid inside a pickle bottle. This came after customs officials detected strange materials inside the bottles while they were X-raying his luggage after arriving at the airport.
They removed them and it turned out that the bottles carried 2,870 narcotic pills, weighing around 280.9 grammes. The defendant, during questioning, didn’t deny possessing the bottles, but he told prosecutors that he wasn’t aware of what was inside them. “My neighbour gave me the bottles and he requested me to give them to his son-in-law, who resides in the Kingdom.
He gave me this phone number,” the accused said. However, the phone number wasn’t valid and thus he was arrested and charged with smuggling pills into the Kingdom.
