Shura support for nation-serving programmes stressed

Shura Council’s Secretary-General, Chancellor Osama Ahmed Al Asfoor, has underlined the Shura Council’s great interest in activities and programmes aimed at serving the nation and achieving development, in line with the vision and directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, as well as the role of the Legislative branch.

He was speaking while receiving the participants in the third edition of the ‘My Rights’ programme, implemented in co-operation with the Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD), the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) and the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute (JLSI).

Chancellor Al Asfoor welcomed the participants’ visit to the Shura Council, and conveyed to them greetings from the Shura Council Chairman, Ali Al Saleh, as well as his wishes of success to them in learning about the council’s role and work mechanisms. Mr Al Asfoor wished the programme participants every success in contributing to the Kingdom’s progress march, extending thanks to the sponsors of the ‘My Rights’ programme for their keenness to ensure its continuity and success.

During the visit, the participants attended a lecture on the work mechanism of the Shura and Representatives councils, and toured the Secretariat-General’s facilities, including the sessions’ room and the parliamentary library.
