Interior Ministry to mark 100th anniversary of Bahrain Police

The Ministry of Interior will launch, starting September, a series of ceremonies and community events to mark the 100th anniversary of Bahrain Police.

The celebration comes to cherish the Bahrain Police’s decades of loyalty and continuation of the journey of accomplishments and sacrifices to protect the security of the nation during the era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the ministry said in a statement issued.

The events will begin with the hoisting of the Ministry of Interior’s flag, in which it will have the centennial logo. The activities will highlight the civilized history and the development and modernization journey of the police, which are the foundations for the overall security performance.

The Bahrain Police was established in 1919 by order by His Majesty Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the former Bahrain ruler. The police law was endorsed in 1920 as the first legislation in Bahrain to regulate the police work within specific standards to protect the security of the nation.

Since then, the Bahrain Police have continued to achieve milestones in different security fields and services. The police forces have been witnessing rapid developments because of the dedication of the Al Khalifa rulers to protect the security of the nation and citizens and the relying on national competencies, the ministry said.

Many security authorities were formed to meet requirements and a strategy of development and modernization was launched to cover all of them.
