Vow to support people with disabilities
More measures to support people with disabilities were mulled at a key meeting held yesterday. This came as Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel Humaidan, met the member of the Council of Representatives, MP Ibrahim Khalid Al Nafaie, in the presence of the heads and members of people with disabilities’ societies.
He discussed with them areas of co-operation between the Labour and Social Development Ministry and civil society organizations that are interested in supporting people with disabilities. Heads and members of the people with disabilities’ societies reviewed the main initiatives they are being implemented to support the disabled, discover their talent, motivate them and create a suitable environment for them to showcase their skills.
They also shed light on the main challenges facing them in carrying out their mission towards people with disabilities to the fullest. The minister commended the efforts and role of the Council of Representatives to highlight the needs of the citizens, and meet them in co-ordination with the executive branch. Mr. Humaidan underlined the Labour Ministry’s constant keenness to ensure easy procedures for the citizens and society, especially those related to people with disabilities.
