Film producer faces trial in forgery case

A film and theatre producer currently living in a GCC country is facing trial in the Kingdom over accusations of forgery. The producer allegedly falsified a visit visa application to come to Bahrain using a fake stamp, belonging to a Bahraini movie production company by forging the signature of its owner.

The case was filed against the producer by the owner of the Bahraini movie production company, revealing that the defendant previously agreed with him to create a play, but he didn’t live up to the agreement. As a result of this, his company is facing claims amounting to BD9,000 owing to his failure to meet the contract conditions.

“I met him in 2017 through a Bahraini actor and he expressed his desire to produce a play in the Kingdom. “He told me he wanted to use my company name as it was involved in the production and distribution of plays and movies and he wasn’t a GCC national,” the owner of the Bahraini company told prosecutors.
