Maan programme implemented in 100 schools

Southern Governor Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa said that the Maan programme had been implemented in more than 100 schools in all governorates. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the second course to train trainers of the Maan (Together) programme against violence and addiction yesterday, he hailed the support of the Interior Minister, Education Minister and Health Minister to the programme.
The American Ambassador to Bahrain, William V. Roebuck, Assistant Undersecretary of Students Services at the Education Ministry, Khalid Al Alawi and Assistant Undersecretary of Primary Care at the Health Ministry also were present on the occasion.
The governor, who is also head of the Maan committee, highlighted his confidence of the development of Maan, especially after the accreditation of Bahrain as regional centre for the programme. He said that the graduates would be able to train others to join the programme. Shaikh Abdullah said a booklet would be issued on success stories and efforts made to implement the project and reach out to more people.
Describing the success of the programme that was launched five years ago, Maan Director Ali Ahmed Amini said that the graduation of the second batch of trainers took place after nine rehabilitation courses for Maan members. The training is part of the requirements to establish a regional centre in cooperation with D.A.R.E organisation.
A film of the development of the programme and its achieved goals was screened. The Governor also honoured the lecturers from D.A.R.E and the trainers at the end of the function.
