Death of friend: Two face trial

Prosecution witnesses will be heard on October 19 in the trial of two implicated in the death of their friend.

The incident reportedly occurred during a heavy drinking session that saw the first defendant push the victim down the stairs to death on March 24 this year.

It happened after an argument broke out between them when the victim demanded the suspected killer to discontinue his relationship with his mistresses, according to court files.

The irate accused shoved the victim, who landed on his head and died on the spot in the presence of the second defendant.

After his death, the duo dragged the man to a room before one of them reportedly robbed his mobile and sold it for BD2 to buy liquor. During investigations, the two denounced each other in an effort to elude trial.

The second defendant stated that his co-suspect was requesting the victim to leave his mistresses as he was bidding to have sex with them.

The first defendant has been charged with murdering the victim, while the other accused was indicted of robbery only. They pleaded not guilty before the High Criminal Court.
