Woman charged with embezzlement to learn fate on Sep 23
A public hospital female employee, who was sentenced by the High Criminal Court to three years imprisonment for embezzlement last May, will learn her fate on September 23 this year. This comes as the First Supreme Court of Appeal recently took up the case and confirmed that it would announce its final verdict on the aforementioned date after the defendant appealed against the previously issued sentence.
The woman was sentenced to three years imprisonment last May for forging over BD100,000 from Jidhafs Maternity Hospital, where she worked, by forging documents. The woman was sentenced by the court, which also ordered her to return BD111,708 that she took from the hospital.
As reported earlier, the accused landed in police custody following an investigation into a complaint filed by the Health Ministry officials. The ministry, following an audit, found unusual shortages in the institution’s revenues.
