A jail term of three years and a fine of BD 100,000 were awarded to two men by the Fourth High Criminal Court on terrorism-related charges. The court also acquitted another suspect, said Advocate General Ahmed Al Hammadi the Chief of Terror Crime Prosecutions.
Court files say, the first suspect, an affiliate of the terror group Saraya Al Ashtar, colluded with another to fund terrorist activities, target police officers and create chaos in the Kingdom. The suspects also used the fund to support the families of men jailed on security-related crimes.
The third suspect acted as a money handler between the first and the second suspects. The prosecution presented witness accounts, confessions and technical proof to the court. Appeals can be filed at the Court of Appeals and the Court of Cassation.
