Arabian Gulf University awarded ‘CHES’ accreditation

The Environmental Sciences and Natural Resources Master’s Programme offered by the College of Graduate Studies in the Arabian Gulf University since 2006 has received the accreditation of the Committee of Heads of Environmental Sciences (CHES). CHES is a committee for special education offered by academic institutions dealing with environmental sciences and the adoption of plans of programmes of higher education institutions in the field of environment.

AGU President Dr Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al Ohaly, expressed delight in obtaining the notable accreditation. “Being awarded CHES accreditation is a motivation for AGU to continue its efforts to improve the quality of higher education,” he added. Head of the Natural and Environment Resources Department in the College of Graduate Studies Dr Mohammed Sulaiman Abido, said the accreditation allows the Master’s students at the department to apply for a free membership to the Environmental Science Authority once they graduate.

“This also makes it easier for them to obtain a license to organise professions related to their different environmental specialisations,” he added.
