Foreign Minister to attend UNGA 74

Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has expressed his satisfaction over the level and fruitful pace of co-operation between the Kingdom and the United Nations. He ascribed this momentum to the wise the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, reflected in the openness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the world and its firm belief in joint action that benefits all sides.

The minister had earlier arrived in New York, accompanied by a number of senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other state ministries and institutions to take part in the activities of the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 74). This year’s UNGA 74 is being held under the theme of “Galvanising multilateral efforts for poverty eradication, quality education, climate action and inclusion”, a broad title that discusses the various issues and developments of concern to the world.

The minister will deliver the statement of the Kingdom of Bahrain before the General Assembly and participate in a number of high-level events on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings. He will also meet a number of officials from brotherly and friendly countries and UN senior officials as part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness on developing its ties with world states at all levels.

Shaikh Khalid stressed that the UNGA remain an important international event for the countries keen to play their role in full to consolidate international peace, security and sustainable development, strengthen the gains of their peoples and achieve UN goals. The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed hope that UNGA 74 will reach appropriate lasting solutions to current crises and troubles to ensure a more prosperous future for all nations and peoples.
