‘Casual shove’ during first date kills teen

Manama

A person shoved his girlfriend on her chest, which killed her during their first date, the court heard. The victim, 18, was reportedly suffering from heart problems and the accused said the teenager died when he “jokingly hit” her on her chest.

But the man, in his twenties, was referred to a criminal court on charges of beating the teenager to death.

“We met at a bus station. We boarded a bus and started talking to each other. We exchanged jokes and I shoved her casually. But I didn’t know it would lead to her death,” the accused told prosecutors.

The woman reportedly collapsed to the ground and some of the passengers tried to give her first aid. The accused reportedly pretended as if he didn’t know her.

He later offered to take her to hospital and he hitchhiked a car to transport her.

The girl, however, died at the hospital, and the man was nabbed after a witness, who spotted him with the girl in the bus station, reported it to police.

Her family confirmed the girl was having heart problems. However, the accused was charged with causing her death.
