Calls to replace wooden classes in Budaiya elementary schools
Manama
A parliamentarian demanded to replace the wooden classrooms in two of Budaiya’s schools in the Northern Governorate.
MP Hamad Al Dossary said in a recent statement that the classrooms/cabins pose great threats to students in HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Elementary and Intermediate Boys’ School and Budaiya Elementary and Intermediate Girls’ School.
The MP demanded Education Ministry to construct appropriate concrete buildings.
He said, “The current situation at both schools could develop into a much worse situation, especially with the frequent power cuts at these cabins, forcing students and teachers to bear high temperatures.”
Al Dossary mentioned that he received numerous calls from parents who complained about the deteriorated conditions at the school.
“The ministry should take steps to improve academic environments at schools and ensure the safety of students and teachers. We demand an effective plan to be implemented during the ongoing school year to solve this matter and make schools in Bahrain compatible with the ambitions project of HM the King for future schools in the Kingdom,” he added.
The legislator had previously presented a proposal to the Parliament House to remove wooden classrooms. Majority of MPs agreed to the proposal, which awaits implementation.
