A’ali fake bombers sentenced

The High Criminal Court has sentenced two men to three years behind bars each for planting a fake bomb in A’ali village.  Court files said that the defendant along with another one - fugitive in Iran - placed an object that looks similar to an explosive device in A’ali, with an aim of spreading fear and terror among citizens and residents.

It was initially thought that the bomb was real but explosive experts were called to come and examine it. And they declared it was a fake bomb. Investigations found the two defendants were implicated in the incident after their fingerprints were extracted from the scene. One of the two was arrested and admitted to their involvement in the case, but his co-suspect is still at large and was held guilty in absentia.

“I met the fugitive person along with my friend in Shahrakan and we decided to plant a fake bomb. “We placed it on June 12, 2016, with the intention to trigger panic in the area,” the arrested man told prosecutors.
