Govt staff sentenced for forging certificate

A public sector director charged with forgery after his academic certificate was discovered to be fake was sentenced to three years in prison. However, his jail sentence was suspended, pending the outcome of his appeal.

Southern Government chief prosecutor Mohammed Salah earlier said in a statement that the complaint against the government official was filed by the Civil Service Bureau. “A thorough investigation into the matter concluded with charging him with rigging and using private and official documents.”

“During the investigation process, several witnesses were questioned, including directors serving in the same place, where the defendant is working as well as the head of the Accreditation of Abroad Qualifications in the Ministry of Education and the head of the disciplinary committee formed by the Civil Service Bureau to probe the issue,” he added.
