Key role of public staff in achieving SDGs stressed

Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed Al Mutawa has stressed the importance of the leadership roles within various government departments to achieve sustainable development goals, pointing out that their continuous development is essential for the future of the governmental work.

The minister was speaking in a lecture given to Qiyadat Programme affiliates which is presented by Bahrain Institute for Public Administration (BIPA) as part of the national programme to develop the government leaderships. The Cabinet Affairs Minister underlined the key role played by the government leaderships in implementing the Government Action Plan that was mapped out according to the comprehensive vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to achieve future aspirations, the sustainable development goals (SDGs) 2030, the Economic Vision 2030 and the Fiscal Balance Programme.

The minister asserted the government’s commitment to international trends in the government work and anticipating future changes towards achieving Bahrain Economic Vision 2030. He pointed out that the future of the government work in Bahrain requires continuous development based on building citizens’ capabilities and improving their experiences and performance by equipping them with the needed tools to face future challenges.

For his part, BIPA Director-General Dr Raed Mohammed bin Shams said that the national programme to develop government leaderships is a scientific administrative approach that was tailored according to international specifications to meet local needs and achieve future aspirations. He added that the programme gives the national competencies affiliated with it the opportunity to come up with projects and initiatives to achieve set up goals and promote the Kingdom’s standing as a regional and international hub for civilisational, intellectual and scientific outcomes.  

Dr bin Shams noted that investing in the government employees and providing them with success requirements stems from a belief in the importance of citizens as their pivotal role in all development fields. He described the concept of leadership in government work as an intellectual approach that is continuously developing and a system based on anticipating the future and dealing with changes competently and effectively
