Key healthcare investment forum kicks off today

The First Business Development Forum in healthcare sector (BDFEX) will kick off today, under the patronage of Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, in a strategic partnership with Tamkeen Labour Fund, and jointly organised by Proact International Consultants from the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Gulf Company in Saudi Arabia.

The first of its kind in Bahrain, BDFEX will host six speakers from health leaders and experts from Bahrain and the GCC. These speakers will address a number of themes, including encouraging the exploration and encouragement of more national industries in health, including the manufacture of medicines, medical equipment and medical supplies, in order to provide the requirements of health facilities such as hospitals, centres, clinics and pharmacies in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the GCC, in addition to attracting foreign investments.

The opening of the forum will announce a model for two health projects, the first of their kind in the Kingdom, the first private and integrated medical clinics complex, and the second industrial zone for health and medical industries. BDFEX provides an opportunity to introduce national initiatives to strengthen the health sector, particularly the National Health Insurance Programme in the Kingdom, which aims to improve the quality and efficiency of health services.

BDFEX is in line with the objectives of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, especially in terms of moving towards the knowledge economy and investing Bahrain’s human and scientific potential in the development of the national economy and increase the gross domestic product.

It also fulfils the aspirations of the Economic Development Board, which focused on five sectors to develop the national economy. Moreover, BDFEX forum aims to enhance the local content of health services and manufacturing by bringing new investments and technologies to achieve excellence and sustainable development in the health field in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
