Arla opens production facility in Salman Industrial city
His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday inaugurated a production and distribution plant of Arla Foods (Arla) in Salman Industrial City. Shaikh Isa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Isa bin Salman Educational Charitable Trust, attended the inauguration on behalf of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.
In his opening address, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman highlighted Bahrain’s sophisticated business infrastructure, particularly the facilities provided by the Salman Industrial City in strengthening the logistics sector. Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Zayed Rashid Al Zayani, expressed the Kingdom’s delighted in welcoming Arla to the manufacturing landscape here.
Al Zayani said the ministry would continue to play its role in “attracting FDI, facilitating business and supporting growth” as a vital member of ‘Team Bahrain’. Arla Foods CEO Peder Tuborgh said the new facility would “increase production and stepchange our innovation speed to meet increasing consumer demand.”
Welcoming the project, Khalid Humaidan, Chief Executive, Bahrain EDB, said the inauguration of Arla’s largest facility outside Europe is a testament to Bahrain’s position as a leading destination for manufacturing companies looking to access the region’s USD1.65 trillion market. Humaidan added: “Arla’s investment will create several jobs in the local market and will play a key role in supporting our diversification efforts.”
