Two faces trial for disrupting traffic by burning couch
The High Criminal Court has begun hearing the case of two men, including a football player, accused of setting a couch on fire to obstruct the traffic on a public road and put people’s lives at risk.
The duo were arrested after the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science received a complaint from Sitra Police Station over carrying out the act in protest against judicial decisions on some convicts. Police investigations confirmed the involvement of the pair in the incident after their fingerprints were found in the scene.
The first defendant, aged 19 and a football player in a local club, was arrested and admitted to agreeing with others, including his co-suspect in an effort to hinder the traffic after the enforcement of court judgements against the defendants. The pair were charged on grounds of arson.
