Works Minister attends key GCC meeting
Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Minister Essam Khalaf has attended the 22nd meeting of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) municipal ministerial committee, which convened in Muscat, the Sultanate of Oman.
The committee endorsed a number of recommendations which were submitted by the Kingdom of Bahrain to the preparatory meeting. The recommendations focused particularly on green building, domestic waster recycling, central markets, tree-planting and revamping town.
The minister stressed Bahrain’s keenness on development the municipal work in the GCC countries, underlining the importance of focusing on issues that concern citizens and contribute to further enhancing environment-friendly urban development and upgrading municipal services.
He stressed the importance of endorsing the final draft of the unified GCC urban development strategy which, he said, would develop joint municipal co-operation and promote sustainable environment urban development, keeping abreast of regional and global trends.
