Bahrain’s peace role highlighted
Bahrain, which enjoys an important geo-strategic position, will continue to play its role in maintaining peace and stability of the region, a top official said yesterday.
“Bahrain does not organise any events targeting any state at all and it is a peace-loving state that has helped in maintaining peace and stability in the region,” Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chairman of Middle East Military Technology Conference, Chairman of Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) and Spokesperson for Bahrain International Defence Exhibition and Conference (BIDEC 2019) told a media conference on the evening of the opening of BIDEC 2019.
He was commenting on a journalist’s statement that Tehran seems to consider BIDEC or any other security summits in Bahrain aimed at Iran. “It is not a logical argument, as Bahrain has been and will continue to work with regional and international partners to formulate policies aimed at thwarting security threats faced by the region,” he said. The second edition of Bahrain International Defence Exhibition and Conference (BIDEC 2019) opens at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre today and runs until October 30.
Regional and International security and stability and military technology will be the aim and focus of the event. “The three-day event will shed light on the maritime, air and land security and safety issues. BIDEC will focus on military technology, strategy, cyber security, artificial intelligence, how to combat piracy, human trafficking and other topics of regional interest,“ said Dr Shaikh Abdulla.
