Plea hearing in police attack case adjourned
The High Criminal Appeals Court has adjourned the plea hearing in the case of a 40-year-old man accused of attacking police officers, who went to his home to arrest him. The defendant is said to have been wanted in connection with a case and an arrest warrant had been issued against him.
He, however, resisted his arrest and attacked the police officers using handcuffs. “We were tasked to arrest him and we headed to his house. When we knocked the door his daughter came. She told us that he wasn’t there. However, his wife came too and revealed that he was in the house but refusing to come out,” one of the victims told Prosecutors.
The officers tried to enter the house to nab the defendant but he pushed them out before he carried out his attack against them. “He hit us with handcuffs that he seized from us and later used a chair to attack,” the victim added. It’s said that the suspect caused various injuries to the police officers. He was earlier sentenced to one year behind bars. But he appealed the verdict.
