Water Garden project progress reviewed

Work on the second phase of the water garden project is on track, reaching 47 per cent so far, it emerged. This came as Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam Khalaf visited the site of the project and inspected progress of work on the project.

The minister was accompanied by National Initiative for Agricultural Development Secretary-General Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Urban Development Director Rawya Al Mannai and other officials.

The minister said that work on the second phase of the water garden, which started early this year, is expected to be completed during the first quarter of the year 2020. He pointed out the water garden development project, one of the key infrastructure schemes, is being carried out in partnership with the Capital Municipality.

He paid tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and Supreme Council for Women (SCW) for her keenness on reviving the iconic water garden.

National Initiative for Agricultural Development Secretary-General Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa expressed delighted at the tangible progress of work on the project, looking forward to the opening of the milestone in the first quarter of 2020.
