Africans fined for defrauding telecom firm
The Lower Criminal Court has fined six Africans BD60,000, BD10,000 each for defrauding a telecommunication company, inflicting it with losses worth BD25,000.
It’s said that the defendants obtained prepaid SIM cards with electronic devices. “And with the help of several computer programmes, they contacted unknown people and they managed to pave the way for free international calls for more than seven hours in an effort to avoid the tariff,” the Prosecutors said.
The defendants have been accused of resorting to fraud with the help of unknown men to benefit from a service provided by a licensed company using a device called SIM boxing to avert paying it.
