Agreement to train 80 Bahraini doctors signed

A batch of 80 Bahraini doctors are to undergo training prior to their employment under a key agreement signed yesterday at the Supreme Council for Health (SCH) headquarters.   The deal was sealed in the presence of SCH President Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa as well as the Minister of Health Faeqa Al Saleh.

The Labour Fund (Tamkeen), the Supreme Council for Health, the Ministry of Health and the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) signed the agreement to implement this national project in co-operation with US-based Johns Hopkins University. Under the programme, the trained Bahraini doctors will graduate with masters’ degrees in clinical medicine and clinical diplomas in family medicine.

SCH President Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa said that the programme follows the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier to training young Bahrainis and provide training and employment for the medical and health graduates.

He paid tribute to HRH the Premier who directed to start implementing Bahraini doctors’ training and employment programme in line with the Government’s drive to provide work opportunities for health and medical graduates. He commended the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) for implementing the programme expressing thanks to the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) and the Ministry of Health.
