Film producer to learn fate in ‘visa application forgery’ trial

A film and theatre producer accused of forgery, who is living in a GCC state, will learn his fate on November 27, 2019. The producer allegedly falsified a visit visa application to come to Bahrain using a fake stamp belonging to a Bahraini movie-production company and forged the signature of its owner.

The case was filed against the producer by the owner of the Bahraini movie production company, revealing that the defendant previously agreed with him to create a play, but he didn’t live up to the agreement. As a result of this, his company is facing claims amounting to BD9,000, owing to his failure to meet the contract conditions.

“I met him in 2017 through a Bahraini actor and he expressed his desire to present a show in the Kingdom. He told me he wanted to use my company because it was involved in the production and distribution of plays and movies. And he wasn’t a GCC national,” the owner of the Bahraini company told Prosecutors.

“The agreement states that he would shoulder all the losses in case the  play wouldn’t turn a success. He showcased the play and I was paid BD500. “However, the club which hosted the  play  filed a case against my company demanding us to pay BD9,000 in compensation for arrears he failed to settle. “I phoned him and he promised me to pay the amount,” he added.

The owner later travelled to India with his wife for treatment and he found out that the defendant entered Bahrain on several occasions. “He faked my company’s stamp and my signature to file a visa application,” he explained.  Subsequently, he filed a legal complaint and the trial was completed by the court to pronounce its verdict.
