Unlicensed private security guards arrested

A number of men were recently arrested for providing security services to private establishments without obtaining the necessary permit, Public Prosecution announced yesterday. The Prosecution also explained that a manhunt has been launched to nab the remaining suspects involved in the same crime.

In a statement released by the prosecution yesterday, the Ministries and Public Bodies Prosecution Acting Chief Adnan Al Weda’ee confirmed that the prosecution was notified about the group’s illegal activity by the Capital Governorate Police Directorate, adding that the Prosecution immediately launched a probe into the matter.

Mr Al Weda’ee clarified that the investigation resulted in the arrest of some of the suspects, who were interrogated and referred to the court. “The suspects were charged with providing security services to third parties in the form of security guarding of private establishments without obtaining a licence, a crime that is punishable by law No 24 of 2006 on security companies and private security,” Mr Al Weda’ee explained further.

He added: “Legal procedures were taken against the suspects and their trial has been set to on November 19, 2019, at the Eighth Minor Criminal Court. The Prosecution has also ordered to arrest the remaining suspects.”
