Court rejects ‘illicit pregnancy allegation’

The High Criminal Court has rejected the case filed by a Bahraini man, accusing his ex-wife of cheating on him. The man reported his ex-wife to the court over accusations of getting pregnant from an affair with another man before they got divorced. However, the defence presented solid pieces of evidence confirming that the woman became pregnant from her husband, which dismissed the allegations.

During the course of the trial, the woman also expressed her readiness to undergo a DNA test to establish the boy’s paternity. “The pregnancy happened while they were living under one roof. The evidence presented to the judge confirmed the claim,” the woman’s lawyer Huda Al Shaer said.

“My client also offered to do a DNA test to confirm her ex-husband’s paternity to the child,” she added. However, the court deemed that the provided evidence in the case is sufficient to conclude with the ruling that the plaintiff’s allegations were false.
