Minister attends UNESCO meeting
Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi took part in the second meeting, which was held by the deputy chairmen of 40th UNESCO General Conference. The UNESCO direc - tor-general deputies and other senior officials and experts also attended.
The session focused on the settlement of disputes between member countries over the amendment of the UNESCO constitution, which would have an impact on nomination procedures, distribution of posts and membership.
The draft amendments which were proposed by over 40 countries sparked divisions among the officials attending the meeting.
Addressing the session, Dr Al Nuaimi urged more time to study the issue, seek the opinion of legal experts and reach a consensus among member countries.
