Close to 7,900 road occupancy violations removed

As a part of its latest drive, the Captial Municipality has removed nearly 7,900 road occupancy violations
in three months, from July to September 2019, it is learnt.

The number was announced by the municipality through its official website and social media accounts.

The municipality pointed out that the drive was carried out by its cleaning de- partment with an aim to ensure the flow of traffic and to preserve the “beauty of the places”.

Removed and confiscated items includ- ed posters and abandoned vehicles, con- struction violations, abandoned and fallen houses, dead animals, vehicle sunshades and iron poles, the municipality added.

The municipality assured that it has been conducting periodic campaigns to monitor and remove the violations.

The municipality noted that the placing of posters and random advertisements or iron poles and construction waste were a great risk to road users as they cause confusion in the vision of drivers, or fal- tering by traffic, in addition, to distort the overall appearance of the area.

It added that these violations distort private and public properties and cause visual and environmental pollution.

The municipality explained that the continuation of these campaigns comes as a continuation of their efforts to reduce phenomena contrary to public cleanliness and abusive to the public appearance.

It stressed the need to implement the articles of a law decree law No (2) of 1996 on the occupancy of public roads, and the advertising law stipulated by Law No 14 of 1993 on dealing with violating advertisements and tightening control over violators.

The municipality pointed out that these campaigns are still continuing and will reach all the streets and roads of Manama and the surrounding areas of the capital, in co-operation with the team of cleaning, control and inspection, and Gulf City Cleaning Company.
