Psychiatrist accused of ‘covering up rape’
A female psychiatrist will face charges for allegedly covering up on a rape incident. This comes as she failed to report a rape incident involving a minor to the police and opted to solve the matter on her own, according to Prosecutors. According to sources, the victim sought help from the psychiatrist after she was allegedly raped.
Apparently, the victim did this as she was afraid of informing her family or reporting the matter to the police. The psychiatrist then contacted the alleged rapist in a bid to solve the matter discreetly and didn’t report the incident to the police. Sources added that the psychiatrist’s attempts to solve the matter were in vain and the victim eventually sought help from the police, which investigated the matter.
The victim’s statements included that the psychiatrist knew about the case and covered up on the crime by not reporting to the police. Hence, a report has been submitted and referred to the Public Prosecution on the rape and the psychiatrist will also be interrogated for covering up for it. No further information was available.
