Bahraini-German delegations discuss new perspectives for joint co-operation

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, headed the Bahraini delegation at the third meeting of political consultations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Federal Republic of Germany, which was held here yesterday. 

The German side was headed by the Regional Director for the Near and Middle East and North Africa at the German Foreign Office, Ambassador Christian Buck. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, welcomed the visiting delegation, describing the relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Germany as strong and developed with promising possibilities for joint cooperation at all levels.

During the meeting, the Undersecretary for International Affairs reviewed the principles of Bahrain’s foreign policy and its firm stances on regional and international issues in order to establish peace and stability. He stated that Bahrain is an important voice for openness and moderation in the region and the world and a leading model in public freedoms, human rights and the fight against extremism and terrorism, through strategic partnerships, in accordance with international laws and charters.

He also hailed Germany’s contributions to the promotion of international peace and security and its interest in the security of the Middle East. Dr Shaikh Abdulla detailed that Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and advanced government programs of high quality have placed the Kingdom at the forefront of the most diversified and growing economies in the region, in addition to providing an attractive, stimulating and favourable investment environment, as a regional centre for finance, business and new initiatives, especially in the sectors of smart economy, renewable energy projects, innovation and knowledge transfer.

He also pointed out that the trade relations between the two countries are witnessing continuous development, with the volume of trade exchange between them to reach 430.5 million Euros in 2018. The Undersecretary for International Affairs addressed the investment opportunities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, praising in this regard the cooperation between the Economic Development Board and the Frankfurt Main Finance, where the latter invited the Board to join the World Alliance of International Financial Centres (WAIFC), as a result of its innovative work and distinguished activities.

The Arab-German economic activities also offer important opportunities on which to build expanded partnerships.
