HRH Crown Prince delegates Deputy Premier to open IISS Manama Dialogue 2019

The 15th edition of the Manama Dialogue (IISS Manama Dialogue 2019) opened yesterday in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier delegated Deputy Premier His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa to open the forum.

The Deputy Premier expressed his delight at being delegated by HRH the Crown Prince to inaugurate this important international security conference, which convenes in Bahrain for the 15th times.

He underscored the importance of the conference which brings together ministers, political and security experts, academic and military figures to discuss and exchange ideas and visions regarding the impact of international and regional developments that affect dangerously countries’ security and stability and curb their development and progress and the future of their peoples.

 “Security is the basis of development, which the international community and relevant international organizations seek to strengthen internationally and regionally, towards creating a fertile ground for the continuation of development paths in all countries of the world”, he said.

He said that IISS Manama Dialogue has established itself as one of the key conferences that raise issues and issues related to international peace and security, which contributed to overcome many challenges and promote stability in the region and thus continue to achieve the sustainable development goals of their countries..  

He commended the level of participation at Manama Dialogue which, he said, reflects the importance of this defense and security forum in maintaining security and stability in the region through its views and insights and its interest in security as a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development.

He reiterated Bahrain’s resolve to  spare no effort in any alliance that will enhance regional and international security and stability, which is evidenced by its continuous initiative and joining all alliances aimed at defending the right and combating terrorism and extremism.

He cited in this regard Bahrain’s presence in the  International Coalition Against Terrorism and the Saudi-led Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, in addition to its joint joint work with brotherly and friendly countries to secure the international corridors of trade, energy and freedom of navigation in the region.

The Deputy Premier expressed his hope that the sessions of this dialogue will contribute to the establishment of a sophisticated security base that contributes to the resolution of conflicts and wars and the fight against terrorism and extremism in all its forms.  

He thanked IISS Director-General and Chief Executive Dr. John Chipman  and his assistants for their efforts in preparing for this security and political meeting to ensure its success.

Dr. Chipman addressed the opening ceremony, highlighting regional challenges and the importance of international cooperation to combat terrorism and extremism by uniting efforts to confront extremist ideology, which represents one of the biggest challenges facing the world and its peoples.
