Bahrain’s efforts to boost women’s rights stressed

Marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which is observed on November 25, the Shura Council affirmed the Kingdom’s advanced laws that are in tune with international agreements and conventions and which aim to further boost the rights of Bahraini women.

It stressed support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the great care accorded by the government led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. It also underlined continuous follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

The Shura Council commended the great care given by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) to Bahraini women through various strategies which enabled them to move from the stage of empowerment to the stage of progress.

It pointed out the efforts made to protect Bahraini women from all forms of discrimination and violence, praising social awareness of the Bahraini people and their respect to women’s rights and role in carrying out comprehensive development plans.

The Shura Council commended Bahrain’s access to international agreements and conventions on protecting the rights of women and eliminating violence against them.
