Leadership thanked

The Chairman of Tamkeen, Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa, thanked HRH the Crown Prince for his ongoing encouragement of Bahraini entrepreneurs. This came as HRH the Crown Prince along with HH Shaikh Isa visited the second edition of Pitch@Palace competition held at Arad Fort yesterday.

Shaikh Mohammed noted that the Pitch@Palace competition reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to spread the spirit of entrepreneurship, provide a platform to showcase innovation, and connect entrepreneurs with experts and industry professionals.

The nine participating startups each had three minutes to present their business projects before a judging panel made up of senior businesspeople and other distinguished guests.

The panel awarded this year’s winning position to Shahad Al Zaki - MAVI VR Studio - Bahrain. Aryam Ahmed - Aryam - UAE came in second place and Nahla Al Sunni - DocWhere - Bahrain came third. In addition, Aryam Ahmed - Aryam - UAE received the People’s Choice Award, following an electronic vote from the public in attendance.

The winners will now compete alongside other startups from across the world at Pitch@Palace Global, which will take place this December at London.

Pitch@Palace GCC 2.0 is organised by the Labour fund ‘Tamkeen’ in collaboration with the Pitch@Palace initiative - launched in 2014 to provide a platform to amplify and accelerate the work of entrepreneurs.

This work is carried out through an interactive programme in which participating entrepreneurs are given the opportunity to meet the people who can help launch their new business.
