Bahrain Club clinch Trios gold in national bowling league

Bahrain Club’s Emerson Gotencio, Abdulla Abdulkarim and Mohammed Moreed clinched the gold medals in the Trios competition of the Bahrain Bowling Association (BBA) League, currently being played at the Sitra Mall lanes. The victors secured first place after shooting a team total of 4,023 pins for an average of 223.5.

Gotencio was their leading scorer with an individual total of 1,421 pins and a 236.8 average over six games. His scores included a near-perfect game of 290 in the second. Abdulkarim followed with a 1,399 total and 233.2 average. He shot a perfect 300 in the fifth game of his series. Moreed chipped in with a 1,203 individual score and a 200.5 average. The team’s high game was 720, which was the second best for the Trios. Finishing as the silver-medallists were Manama Club’s Emad Jahromi, Ahmed Almalki and Ali Almas. They had a 3,838 team total and a 213.2 average. Taking the bronze medals were East Riffa’s Ahmed Fareed, Ahmed Algaoud and Ahmed Abduljabbar. Their score was 3,812 with a 211.8 average.

Finishing fourth were the Manama trio of JM Villanueva, Ahmed Alkhaja and Ahmed Raheemi, while in fifth were East Riffa’s Yousif Alawadhi, Mahdi Asad and Mahmood Mirza. A total of 16 trios took part in the event. Meanwhile, East Riffa’s Fareed and Ahmed Al Awadhi clinched the gold medals in the Doubles competition. They played a 2,796 team total for a 233.0 average. Al Awadhi registered an individual outing of 1,468 pins and a 244.7 average over his six games, while Fareed had a 1,328 total and a 221.3 average. Bahrain Club’s Gotencio and Abdulkarim followed as the silver-medallists with a 2,735 team total and a 227.9 average. Taking the bronze were Manama’s Raheemi and Alkhaja with team scores of 2,529 and 210.8. Twenty-four pairings took part in the Doubles competition.

The BBA league next heads to the Teams contest and then the Masters. Heading into those two categories, Bahrain Club’s Gotencio currently leads in All Events with a total of 4,099 pins and a 227.7 average from his performances in the Singles, Doubles and Trios. East Riffa’s Fareed is second with a 4,020 overall total for a 223.3 average, while Manama’s Alkhaja is third on a 4,014 total and a 223.0 average. A total of 48 bowlers are competing for top placing in All Events, with the hopes of qualifying for the Masters.
