Civil Defence employee to face trial for bribery
An employee in the General Directorate of Civil Defence in Interior Ministry will stand trial before the High Criminal Court for bribery. The trial begins on 10 December 2019.
The suspect is accused of demanding and accepting bribe worth BD2,000 in return for certain services to a private company, said Chief Prosecutor Mohammed Jamal Sultan.
Authorities detained the suspect, a civilian employee at the General Directorate of Civil Defence, on 31 October 2019, which was later confirmed by the interior ministry in a press statement.
The ministry statement, quoting the Director-General of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, said the suspect was arrested redhanded while accepting the bribe.
The minister said the investigation was launched following a tip-off that the suspect is demanding a bribe for his services.
