Convict loses appeal in drugs trial
The High Appeals Court has upheld the sentence issued against an accused, who served drugs to a GCC and Bahraini young women. The defendant was earlier handed down five years behind bars and was also fined BD3,000, both of which were upheld by the Appeals Court.
The defendant’s arrest came after police received secret information that he was in possession of drugs. Thus, anti-drug squads headed to his home in Hidd after issuing an arrest warrant from the Public Prosecution. He was found in the company of the 19-year-old GCC girl and the 22-year-old Bahraini woman.
Police officers seized several types of drugs from his house. During questioning, the Bahraini man admitted to receiving the drugs from an Asian man after transferring money to him. “I transferred money to him and he sent me the location to collect drugs,” he said. The two girls said that the man forced them to consume the drugs.
