National Committee for Information and Population convenes
The National Committee for Information and Population yesterday held its first meeting under the chairmanship of Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed bin Ibrahim Mutawa.
The meeting convened after the issuance of edict 19/2019 by His Royal Highness the Premier setting up the committee and tasking its members to follow up on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, link them to the Government Action Plan and propose national policies for people.
The Cabinet Affairs Minister welcomed the committee members, wishing them success in performing their duties to boost Bahrain’s progress in achieving SDGs and improve the Kingdom’s development indices. He voiced keenness to continue the efforts, alongside the committee members, to develop work mechanisms to achieve set up goals.
The meeting shed light on proposals and recommendations concerning developing the committee’s work mechanism to prevent hardships encountered by the committee previously. The Cabinet Affairs Minister directed to hold a workshop to avail of the experience of international organisations in upgrading indices, handling data and statistics and producing indices demonstrating Bahrain’s progress in achieving SDGs.
The Supreme Council for Environment briefed the committee on upgrading data regarding air quality for the World Health Organisation. The Cabinet Affairs Minister stressed the great importance given by Bahrain to environmental issues and monitoring indices related to air pollution.
