Trio who killed friend over BD1,000 to stand before court today
Three men accused of killing their fellow national over a money dispute last May will appear before the High Criminal court today. The trio, Asian nationals, were arrested and remanded to custody in May. Public Prosecution accused them of killing and robbing the victim after luring him to an abandoned place in Al Daih village.
Investigators found that the men beat the victim to death using hammers and cement blocks, following an argument over a financial dispute. The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science began an investigation after getting notified about a severely injured man found in a farm in Al Daih, west of Capital Manama.
The victim was rushed to Salmaniya Medical Complex but succumbed to his wounds. Based on his statements that three men attacked and robbed him, authorities launched a manhunt. During interrogation, the suspects told interrogators that the victim cheated them by selling a work permit, aka employment visa, for BD1,000, promising that it is valid for two years, while it was only for a year.
On 14 May 2019, the Public Prosecution accused the three men of premeditated murder and robbing the victim. The High Criminal Court will consider today a medical report on the second defendant’s mental health.
